Freddy N. Price, Sr., age 80, of Bismarck, Arkansas, died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 11, 2011. He was born November 29, 1930, a son of the late Fred Price and Bertha Price. He was a master carpenter and home builder, served in the United States Navy from 1948-1950, was a Baptist and reflected his love of God through devoted caring for family and friends. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. Later he enjoyed relaxing and spending time with his cats, Babe and Elmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Freddy Price, Jr. and one sister, Bernice Mae Price. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dolly J. Price; two daughters, Freda (Glynn) Guenther of Sherrill, Arkansas and Jennifer Thomas of Maumelle, Arkansas; two sisters Vasco (Edwin) Midkiff of North Bend, Washington and Sally (David) Smith of Buckville, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Kris (Meredith) Baker, Melanie Compton and Austin Price Thomas.
Visitation for family and friends will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Gross Funeral Home Chapel with Brother David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Bayou Cemetery in Bismarck, Ar. Pallbearers will be Ken Coker, Paul Green, John Compton, Tim Sperry, David Smith II and Kris Baker. Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Coker, Kenneth Coker, O. D. Coker, Edwin Midkiff, Virgil Goodwin, Doyle Hunter and Johnny Hunter.
Funeral arrangements are by Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
