Frederick David Flood, of the 4400 block of E. Honeygrove Court, Virginia Beach, VA, beloved husband of Leona Brown Turner Flood, entered into his eternal home after a lengthy illness at Heritage Hall Rehab Center in Virginia Beach. He was deceased on January 7, 2010, attended by his loving family in Leigh Memorial Hospital. Fred was born April 2nd, 1925 in Camden, New Jersey. He attended schools in Orange, TX, San Diego, CA and graduated at Warwick High School in Newport News, VA. He attended Baylor University in Houston, TX and was in the United States Navy for four years during World War II. He was employed at the Norfolk Naval Air Station for over thirty years, retiring in 1980. He was employed at Gifford Realty Company, Norfolk Wholesale Florist and retired from Nations Bank after five years in the Transportation Dept. He had been employed with velocity express for five years when he was stricken with a heart attack and massive stroke. He was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the church choir. He was a member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge No. 1 in Norfolk, VA, the Scottish Rite Bodies, 32nd Degree Mason and AAONMS Shriner, member of Chanters Unit, and also a Past Patron of Westminster Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Gustave Renholt Flood and mother, Margaretta Hedwig Schneider Flood of Stockholm, Sweden; his first wife, Doris Hodges Flood, and stepson, Richard H. Turner of Virginia Beach, VA. He is survived by his present wife, Leona Brown Turner Flood; and his step-daughter, Brenda Gleed and her husband Dick Gleed. Brenda was like his very own daughter as they remained very close; three step-sons, Stephen and Kenneth and his wife Janice Turner. Also three step-grandchildren, Phillip and his wife Lori Gleed, Kim Keeterhagen and her husband Patrick and Kenneth and his wife Tiffany; great grandchildren, Christina and Sarah Turner Madeline, Emily Samantha Sarah Porter and Kenneth Gleed of Wisconsin and Illinois. He will be remembered for his love of music, his church and traveling with his Masonic friends. He was a gentle man and had a love for singing. He was friends with all persons. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang while ill in the hospital. He had a wonderful attitude toward life. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel is handling the arrangements. The family will be at 1094 Donation Dr., Old Donation Apts., Virginia Beach, VA.
