Frederick (Miko) Jamie Muribus died on October 23, 2011 in San Anselmo, California. He was born on Oct 14, 1930 in San Francisco, California, to Federico and Thomasa Selim Muribus, where he grew up as the eldest sibling to brother, George and sister, Maria. Miko graduated from San Francisco's Commerce High School in 1948. A child prodigy, his talent on the violin was showcased in numerous concerts and benefits throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, most often with his brother George, accompanying on the piano, and eventually, Maria on the harp
After serving in the Armed Forces he returned to civilian life, working for the United Nations. He studied violin at the Mannes School of Music in New York, was a concertmaster of the New York student orchestra, and was active in the Manhattan classical music scene.
He returned to California in the 70's where he worked for Fireman's Fund/American Express, serving as a high level tax specialist/manager for many years, before retiring.
Miko survived his wife, Gail, who passed away on May 28, 1990. While he never fathered any children of his own, he loved and was beloved by many nieces and nephews.
After retirement from corporate life, he once again picked up his violin, serving as associate member of Bohemian Club and The Family, even managing their orchestra. He was also an active member of his community and most recently served as member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury.
"Uncle Miko" leaves behind a rich legacy of life, love and music. He is survived by a family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and beloved friends who will mourn his loss, but celebrate his life, where he lived, loved and played music with joyful abandon.
