Aoki, (Marlene) Fumiko, a 54 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009, in Torrance at the age of 74. Born and raised in Lahaina, HI, she married Stanley Aoki in 1954, then moved to Southern California, making Torrance their final residence. Marlene volunteered and worked for Torrance Unified School District for approximately 35 years. She had a passion to help others and her generosity was endless. Many friends and family members have benefited from her acts of kindness and this continued through the end of her life.
Marlene is survived by two sons, Wilton (Kathleen Neeck) Aoki and Jason (Maria) Aoki, two daughters, Shari Aoki and Norine Aoki, two granddaughters, Briana Aoki and Andrea Lozano. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Aoki, in 1999.
A memorial service will be held at Rice Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. A reception will follow in Rice's Lighthouse Reception Room from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Marlene's family welcomes your presence and please feel comfortable to dress casually. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) in her honor.
