Mr. G. Preston "Press" Ferguson, Jr., 80, of 819 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 in his home. Born December 11, 1930 in Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late George Preston and Beulah M. (Walker) Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with the 82nd Airborne from 1947-1951. He was employed as a truck driver for D.L. George & Sons and Wishard's Trucking and as a heavy equipment operator for Waynesboro Construction. He retired in 1993. Mr. Ferguson is survived by six children, Preston Eugene Ferguson of Waynesboro, Rose "Susie" (Ferguson) Lentz of Greencastle, PA, George L. Ferguson of Fairfield, PA, Tina (Ferguson) Kauffman of Zullinger, PA and twin sons, Larry Ferguson and Gary Ferguson, of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Marie Showalter of Lancaster, PA; a brother, Raymond L. "Hap" Ferguson of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Bessie Marie Holmes, who passed away October 26, 2007. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 7, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, PA where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post #1599, Chambersburg.
