LONZ, GARY JOSEPH
Age, 49, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque died on Saturday, November 5, 2011. He is survived by his mother, F. Maureen Lonz of Albuquerque; brother, Stephen A. Lonz of Albuquerque; sister, Loretta A. Lonz of Lafayette, IN; brother, Thomas J. Lonz and wife, Gina of Albuquerque; sister, Christine M. Gibson and husband, Alan of Albuquerque; his niece, Michelle Boady and husband, Mike; nephews, Timothy Lonz and Patrick Lonz all of Albuquerque. His nephew, Craig Gibson of Newport News, VA; nephews, Christopher Gibson and Cameron Gibson and niece, Elizabeth Gibson all of St. Petersburg, FL; grandnephew, Ethan Boady and grandniece, Avery Boady and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Lonz and brother, Lawrence M. Lonz. Gary was a graduate of Highland High School, and earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He also held an Associate degree in Robotics and Instrumentation from TV-I. He worked for McDonald's while attending school and worked for Specialty Tele - Constructors as a vice president. He was a highly decorated Eagle Scout and continued to be active in scouting as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved hiking, camping, backpacking. He loved music and enjoyed solving complex mathematical problems in the "The Bent" Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society Magazine. Gary loved being around family and friends. A Catholic Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas NE. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, at Lomas and Tennessee on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Fr. Mike Cimino. Pallbearers will be Timothy Lonz, Patrick Lonz, Alan Gibson, Bruce Budagher, Rick Andes and Vince McKenney. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
