Gary Ward, age 63, of Amity, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born on December 26, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Irvin Ward and Elsa Schoene Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cindy Barnes. Prior to his retirement, Gary was Shift Supervisor, #403, at the Hot Springs, Garland County Ambulance Service and worked for the Monroe County Animal Control in Key West, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jill Ward of Amity; one son and best friend, Jason Ward and his wife, Brenda, of Bryant; two grandchildren, Kaleb and Drake. He was also proud of his three new additional grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy and Christian Craig, Samantha and Tim Prophitt and Shawn Craig, plus seven step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Stan and Mary Ward of Mabelvale, Dennis Ward of Hot Springs and Kenny and Diane Ward of Pearcy; his nephews, Chris Barnes of Mount Ida, Erik and Branden Ward of Hot Springs; his nieces, Katrina Hebert, Courtney Ward, Tessa Whetzel and Roxanne Ward; and two special foster girls, Amanda and Stacie Rickett Marcello of Louisiana. A celebration of Gary's life will be held with a memorial service at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs with Pastor Tim Jordan and Pastor Jimmy Forsythe officiating. Gary had an extreme compassion and calling for the blowing of Shofars, so special recognition is given those participating in the blowing of the Shofars at the memorial services, his church family at the New Beginnings in Point Cedar. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Building Fund. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
