Gayle Y. (DeHart) Carter, age 76, of Lincoln, NE died on Monday, August 6, 2012. She was born on March 13, 1936 in Omaha to Wilbur and Mildred (Mengler) DeHart. Gayle was a member of the Naphis Temples' Daughter's of the Nile, the Welfare Society, and was a large supporter of the Independence Center for which she received the 2011 Alumni of the Year Award. She was a dedicated contributor to the Nebraska State Fair, where she ran, owned and was widely known for her "Korney Korner" concession stand.

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; daughters Stephanie and infant, Stacy; brother, Frank DeHart; and sister, Judy Bohon.

She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, John "Moose" Carter Jr.; her daughter D'Ete Koca of Pensacola, FL; sons Stacey and Jay Carter, both of Lincoln; three grandchildren Matthew, Jackson, and Macie Carter, all of Lincoln; sisters Pat Leming of Papillon and Renee (Doug) Richard of Lincoln; brother Michael "Mick" (Linda) DeHart of Carson City, CA; sister-in-law Teresa DeHart of Omaha; brother-in-law John Bohon of San Pedro, CA; her best friend for over 50 years, Elaine Baum; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Gayle's life will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:30 AM, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th Street. Visitation will be Friday (8/10) from 4 - 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the People's City Mission or to St. Monica's of Lincoln.
