Geneve Irene Monte, 86, of Kitts Hill, passed away Monday (January 17, 2011) at Best Care Nursing Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio. The Kitts Hill, Ohio native was born February 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert M. Lyons and Dessie Elizabeth Hackworth Lyons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Monte, who passed away July 2, 1988.
Mrs. Monte was a 1941 graduate of Pedro High School and attended Lanham Business School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pratt and Whitney Club in Florida. She attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Palm Beach, Florida, where she lived for 40 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by:
a son: Ronald Cales
5 brothers: John Lyons, Homer Lyons, Irvin Lyons, Earl Lyons and Theodore Lyons
2 sisters: Thelma Russell and Mabel Ferrell
She is survived by:
2 nieces: Phyllis and William Keeney of Kitts Hill and Frances Baker of Proctorville
a nephew: Jim and Mary Ann Monte of Ironton
and several other nieces and nephews
Graveside services will be 12:00 Noon Thursday (January 20, 2011) in Woodland Cemetery with Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio.
