George A. Cox, 69, of Orion, IL died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline, IL. There will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to New Kingdom Trailriders or to First Evangelical Free Church where he was a member.

George was born on March 5, 1942 in Rock Island, IL the son of Nelson and Bernice (Schaffer) Cox. Afer his mother's death he was raised by his father's second wife, Emmalyne, who he loved as a mother. He married Joan Watters on April 13, 1963 in Moline, IL. Before retiring he was the Vice President of Engineering and Marketing for Alimak Hek. George has served as a Trustee and Financial Secretery for First Evangelical Free Church and volunteered for New Kingdom Trailriders. He was an avid woodworker.
