George F. Williams, 86, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, in his home.
George was born on October 6, 1919, in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Fred and Pearl (Richmond) Williams. On February 26, 1972, in South Bend, he married Eleanore Kish, who survives. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kathleen De Mercurio; two sisters, Verla Nicolai and Kathryn Carboneau; and four brothers, Guy, Charles, Raymond and Robert Williams.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Stephen Williams of Florida; his stepson, Charles Kandzierski of Dunwoody, Georgia; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Virginia Richter of Elkhart, Indiana and June Fitzsimmons of San Diego, California.
Mr. Williams retired in 1982 from Phillips-Axle of Elkhart and was previously employed as Plant Manager for Sellers Manufacturing, Fitzgerald, Georgia and as vice-president of steel products for Riblet Products of Elkhart.
He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and a former member of the Elks Lodge and the Senior Citizens Group of St. Casimir's Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Sunday, October 23, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a prayer service will be held at 7 PM. Funeral services for George will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 24, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
