George Frederick Beall, age 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died January 18, 2012. He is survived by his spouse, Mary; children, Nancy Nickoley and husband Paul of Highlands Ranch, CO and their sons, Scott, Todd & Karl, Sandra Russell and husband Bill and son Aidan of Lenox, MA; brother, Charles Beall; and sister, Dorothy James of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marcia Beall, in 1999. George was born on January 24, 1931 in Tempe, AZ. He graduated from Arizona State College. He served in the US Army 20 years retiring as a Lt Col. Wars and overseas assignments were in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. Major assignments were Ft. Sill, OK (Student Instructor), Vietnam (Communications Officer), Ft. Hood, TX (Battalion Executive Officer and Division Assistant) and Operations Officer, Dept. of the Army General Staff at the Pentagon. His awards and decorations included the Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Commendation Medal w/Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal w/Cluster, General Staff ID Badge. After retirement from the military, he pursued his passion for building and founded Beall Homes. In 1990, he was the President of NM Home Builders Association and also won the Builder of the Year. He was a founding member of Builders Trust of New Mexico and after his retirement their conference room was named in his honor. In addition he served on the Advisory Board for Carpenters of CNM (formerly TVI). In his retirement, he volunteered countless hours to help others by serving as a job captain on many homes for Habitat for Humanity. Friends may visit French - Wyoming Chapel Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 8353, Albuquerque, NM 87198.
