George Leroy Sykes, 79, of the 5900 block of Blackpoole Ln., Chesapeake, VA, passed away on Feb. 1, 2012. He was born in South Norfolk to the late John Sykes and Georgia Ingram. He was the widow of Marian Sykes and Christine Sykes. He was a member of the Atlantic Baptist Church in Atlantic, VA. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, G. Timothy Sykes and wife Jennifer, and Mark S. Sykes; brother, Jimmey Sykes and wife Cindy; grandchildren, Mark Jr., Kristina, Colby, Ashley, Sean, Rebecca, and Becca; and four great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel in handling arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
