George Lopez was born on September 26, 1946, in the City of Orange, California. He was raised by his parents, Manuel and Carolyn in the Dominguez Hills/Carson area. George had two sisters, Theresa and Susie. George graduated from Banning High School in 1965. It was at Banning High School that he first met Rosemary. 5 years later, George and Rosemary reconnected and were married. George and Rosemary were married for over 40 years. George was a long time resident of Lakewood where he and Rosemary raised their two children, Matthew and Marci.
George began working for Union Oil (currently Conoco Phillips) as a unit operator in 1970. After 36 years of working at the refinery, George retired and began to pursue his passion for travel. George and Rosemary sailed the high seas to the Mexican Rivera, Caribbean, Hawaii, and Alaska.
George is the proud and loving grandfather of 6 grandchildren. When not traveling, George's other passions were baking cookies and spending time with his grandchildren, as well as making his wooden wind toys.
George was a very loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was very much loved and will be missed by his grandchildren, Matthew II, Christina, Connor, Emma, Ryan, and Steven.
Our hearts are full of sorrow and we would like to thank our family and friends for helping us through this difficult time. Your immense generosity, expressed love, care, concern, compassion and kindness will not be forgotten.
