George M. Rhue, age 85, of West Scranton, passed away Monday morning at home. He is survived by his wife, the former Margaret "Jean" Moran. Wed on June 14, 1948, the couple had been married for 63 years. Born in Cambridge, Maryland, on June 21, 1926, son of the late Fred C. and Marie Hurst Rhue, a graduate of Hurlock High School, prior to his retirement he spent more than 25 years as a master lithographer for the Scranton Engraving Company which engraved all the photos for the Scranton Times. He was honored by being inducted into the Scranton Times 50 Years of Service Club in 2002. He was a former treasurer of the local GCIU. A devoted member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church where he was a longtime collection counter, he was also a member of both the church's Holy Name and Booster Societies. His favorite hobby had been carpentry. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed. He is also survived by three sons, Thomas M. Rhue and wife Judy of Moscow, Timothy J. Rhue and wife Rosemary of Adams, New York, and Daniel Rhue and wife Sarah of Scranton; and four daughters, Nancy R. Harvey and husband William of Scranton, Ellen R. Hultz and husband Joseph of Carnegie, Elizabeth R. Kuhns and husband Charles of Yorktown, IN, and Marnie R. Long and husband David of Scranton; twenty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A son, Michael F. Rhue, and a daughter, Mary Rhue, also preceded him in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 4 - 8:00PM in the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 125 North Main Avenue, Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's name to NEPA Home Health and Hospice (c/o Erwine Home Health and Hospice, 270 Pierce Street #101, Kingston, 18704-5141).
