George Savarese, 90, beloved husband of Anna D'Agostino Savarese of 20 Hummingbird Dr., Northford died March 9, 2009 in the Hospital of St. Raphael. Son of the late Henry and Rose DeChristopher Savarese. Loving father of Robert (Marilyn) Savarese of Milford, Betty (Thomas) McDonald of Guilford, Shirley Savarese of Northford and Janet Savarese of North Haven. Cherished grandfather of Robert Savarese, Jr., Edward DePino, Jr., Shawn McDonald and the late Michael McDonald. Beloved great grandfather of Jacob Savarese, Tyler and Breana DePino. Brother of Mary D'Emanuele of North Haven, Joseph Savarese of Hamden and the late Grace Gambardella, Florence Parillo, Frank, Salvatore, Fred and John "Honey" Savarese.
Prior to his retirement George was the owner of the former Grand Auto Body Shop in New Haven. He was a WWII Army veteran.
His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven Thursday morning at 9:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30. Interment will follow with military honors in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call WEDNESDAY from 5-8 PM
