Georgia Mandris Nichols, 86, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died February 3 after a 10 year fight with Parkinson's Disease.
The daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Helen A. Mandris, she was born October 7, 1925 in Annapolis, growing up on Conduit Street. Georgia graduated from Annapolis High School, and in July 1946 married George T. Nichols.
Georgia spent many years of her married life on South Southwood Street and later Lloyd Court. She was a member and supporter of the Ss Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church--serving as President of Agia Anna Philoptochos.
She spent many years with her husband, George, running the Little Campus Inn on Maryland Avenue. Many of the members of the restaurant team were longtime friends of Georgia and her family. After George's death, Georgia worked for the State of Maryland in the Income Tax Division for approximately seven years. She eventually retired and traveled with friends and family.
Georgia enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, reading, and gardening. She also took great pleasure in plays and music. She was devoted to her family and friends, and she was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and daughter Ann Nichols Lygoumenos.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Eleni Nichols Uricoli, son-in-law, Gene Uricoli of Fairfax, VA; and four granddaughters, Darcy (Michael) Kreutz, Arley Uricoli and Gina Uricoli, and Alexis Lygoumenos.
Viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.,147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 6, at Ss Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd., Annapolis, with interment at St. Demetrios Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
