Gerald Dale Heifner of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 28, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital having reached the age of sixty nine years, nine months and six days. He was born on September 22, 1942 in Potosi, Missouri a son to the late Albert Heifner and Gladys (Walls) Heifner.
Gerald served in the United States Navy from July 1961 – June 1965. He was proud of his service to his country.
On October 22, 1966, Gerald was united in marriage to Geraldine Portell and they shared forty five years together.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Geraldine Heifner of Potosi; daughter Laura Fulbright of Potosi; three sons David (Bobbie) Heifner of Potosi, Rob (Tonya) Heifner of Belgrade, Danny (Wendy) Heifner of Farmington; three sisters Jeanie Taylor of Hopewell, Ilene (Arthur) Campbell of Potosi, Loretta Turner of Portland, Oregon; brother Marvin (Carol) Heifner of Desloge; nine grandchildren Kyle Heifner, Kody Heifner, Taylor Heifner, Colby Heifner, Noah Heifner, Tadum Heifner, Thaddeus Heifner, Amanda Fulbright, Michael Fulbright; one great grandchild Peyton Heifner; many other relatives and friends who will saldy miss him.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a son in law Ricky Fulbright; two brothers Donis Heifner, Alvin Heifner; three sisters Louise Sanders, Marian Gamble and Dorothy Thurmond.
Gerald was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa who loved his family very much. He was a hard worker and when something needed done, he would make sure it was done. He was known as the "jack of all trades".
Some of his favorite pastimes were sharing stories of his childhood to his family, Sunday Dinners and the naps that followed them, playing with his grandkids and teasing them. Gerald enjoyed working word search puzzles, listening to oldies and gospel music and reading.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Roger Mowry, Don Sanders, Sr., Tim Nash, Steve Littrell, Kyle Heifner, Kody Heifner, Taylor Heifner and Pat Campbell.
Interment and final prayers were held at Calvary Cemetery lead by Father Joe Welschmeyer. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
