Gerald (Dyck) Dyckman , a life long resident of Verplanck died on December 14, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was 70 years old. Gerry was born on August 25, 1943 to Morris and Philacine (McGuire) Dyckman in Peekskill, NY. Gerry married Lillian Porter on April 18, 1964 at St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck. He was a Teamster in Local 456 retiring as a concrete truck driver for South Street Stone. Gerry was a life member serving almost 50 years in the Verplanck Fire Department, serving as Chief and currently as a Commissioner for 17 years. Gerry dedicated his life to the volunteer fire department and would always find a way to help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife Lillian, son, Gerald Jr.(Sharon), daughter, Kristene (Dave), son, Robert (Dena), grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Chelsea, Troy, Joseph and Aiden, step-grandchildren, Christopher, John, Shane and Gabriella, brother, Gary and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John. Reposing on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 7-9 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Cortlandt Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10 AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Church of the Assumption, Peekskill, NY. Interment will follow at the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck,NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or the Kidney foundation.
