Gerald Spann was born December 1, 1939 to Vairee Taylor and thelate Thomas Spann in Dallas Texas. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s Academy class of 1958 were he served as an altar boy during his elementary, middle and high school years. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his discharged from the military, Gerald was employed by Merchants Freight Lines. He united in holy matrimony to Annie Marie Thompson who preceded him in death. To this union five children were born. He later united in holy matrimony to Earlie Jewel Dancer Spann who preceded him in death. To this union one child was born. After rendering 30 years of service to Merchants Freight Lines, Gerald retired as a truck driver.

He was an active member of The Regular Fellows Social Club and The Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed engaging in his favorite hobbies which included: hunting, fishing, music, solving crossword puzzles, singing and most of all spending time with family. Gerald dedicated his life to Christ and was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. On June 27, 2011, Gerald crossed the gates of eternity to lie in the corridors of eternal rest.

Gerald is preceded in death by one son, Gerald Spann Jr.; one daughter, Sonja Spann; father, Thomas Spann; step-father Telaco Renfro Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory, mother, Vairee Renfro; seven children, Cheri Williams, Mitzi Drones (Deroy Jr.), Tamykko Henderson, Auneystecia Spann, Paul Harlan (Tausha), Leia Edwards(James) and Thomas Span; five siblings, Mary Shields, Margie Brown, Billie Ruth Trigg (Vernell Sr.), Patricia Carter (Dennis Sr.) and Telaco Renfro, Jr.; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
