Geraldine "Gerry" Dunlap passed away on October 23, 2011. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gladys and Renaldo Jeffry, brother Bradford Jeffry and husbands Francis Roach and Carter "Pat" Dunlap. She is survived by a loving family, children Jane Butterfield (Jerry), Carter Dunlap and Natilee Meacham; nieces Dana Scaramastro, Linda Brett, Julie Niven and nephew Brad Jeffry.
She was born and raised in Stockton and received her degree in physical therapy from Stanford University. After graduation, she opened polio clinics throughout California; later settling back in Stockton where she was active in many community organizations, played tennis and golf and was involved in several business ventures.
In addition to her family and friends, she loved her community, and worked tirelessly to make a difference. She co-founded Stockton Beautiful, a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving civic pride in Stockton. In 1993, she received the Stocktonian of the Year award, recognizing the many contributions she made in our area.
She was known for living life to the fullest, loved entertaining and cooking for appreciative friends and family. Despite suffering numerous tragedies during her life, she was always optimistic and looking for the next challenge. She was caring and at the same time strong and opinionated. You always knew where you stood with Gerry.
She will long be remembered for the energy and enthusiasm she brought to everything she did and will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Gerry's life will be held at Stockton Golf and Country Club on Sunday, October 30th at 2 PM. Bring good memories and a story or two. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to:
