Gerald Alexander Monk was suddenly called home on April 18, 2009. He was born to Commodore Harvey Monk and Barbara Liles Monk on October 2, 1975 in Washington, DC. He was the beloved grandson of the late Davetter Shepard and the late Virginia Lilies.

Gerald joined Ebenezer AME Church at an early age where he sang in the choir, attendes Friday night youth activities and Sunday School. As an adult, he regularly attended the early service.

Gerald was a graduate of Gwynn Park High School and the Computer Learning Center where he studied computer technology. He was currently enrolled in the HVAC Apprentice Program at Montgomery College and would have completed this first year this month.

He was employed for several years as a Telcom Technician for Open Technology Group and CIS Global at National Institutes of Health, and for CIBER at the World Bank as a voice technician.

Gerald was a dedicated employee wherever he was employed, He took pride in his work and believed that all work was honorable. He began working partime at the Livingston Health Care Center during the 10th grade and continued through the 12th grade. He had a special connection with the elderly clients.

Currently, he was a certified emissions inspector for Environmental Systems Products Holdings, Inc.

Gerald had a hardy laugh and loved to tease. He will be missed by his parents, his grandfather, Lee C. Liles; his uncles, Lee Liles (Robin), Donald Liles (Evelyn), Gerald Monk (Belinda) and Cecil Bulter (Ruby); four close cousins, Michelle (Jessie_, Daron Liles (Stephanie), Nicholas and Jermey Liles; three aunts and a host of cousins, friends and coworkers.

Gerald left a hole that can only be filled by the knowledge of God's promise to all who believe that He is who He says He is. Sleep our chils until that day we meet again.
