Gilbert E. Nelson, 87, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at Palm Bay Memorial Hospital in Palm Bay, FL. Born in Jefferson County, IL, Gilbert worked in Auto Body Repair, and is a US Navy WWII Veteran. He was a member of Calvary Third Presbyterian Church, Golden Age Men's Club, The Maumee Galavanters, and The Roadrunners. Surviving are his sons, Jerry L. (Darleen) Nelson of Mooresville, NC, Larry K. (Lisa) Nelson of Palm Bay, FL and Gilbert E. (Beth) Nelson of Eagle River, AK; daughters, Linda L. (John) Atkinson of Great Falls, MT and Susan J. (Leonard) Booth of Fort Wayne; niece, Gayle Corbin of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, George A and Lena Nelson; and wife, Betty Nelson. Service is 2pm March 22, 2011 at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue with Rev. Leonol Pech officiating. Visitation is 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm March 21, 2011 at the funeral home.
