ELOY — Gilberto Diaz, 56, of Eloy died on Jan. 19, 2012, at Oasis Pavilion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Casa Grande.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Martin Martinez. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Diaz was born on Feb. 14, 1955, in Ejido Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was a farm laborer, enjoyed his work and did it well. He loved spending time with his family, grilling, joking and singing, and many requested him to sing at parties. He was known as a jack of all trades and lived in Arizona since 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; a son, Gilberto Diaz of Eloy; two daughters, Christina Ramage of Tucson and Angelica Rivas of Eloy; his mother, Epifania Diaz of Eloy; three brothers, Jose Paz Diaz, Agustin Diaz and Jose Angel Diaz, all of Eloy; five sisters, Cruz Hernandez, Juana Diaz, Teresa Valdez and Maria Luisa Diaz, all of Eloy, and Petra Avila of Durango, Mexico; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvaro Diaz.
Donations may be made to help with funeral expenses.
