Glade Wallace Carter passed away April 21, 2011 from complications of congestive heart failure after many years of poor health.
Glade was born New Year’s Eve 1930, to Delbert and Ethyl Haskell Carter, in Santaquin, Utah. He attended school in California but most of his school days were in Payson, Utah. Glade spent most of his life in Payson, which he truly believed was the only place to live.
Glade married Doris Andersen, November 6, 1948 after being introduced on a blind date in the early spring of that year. Their marriage was solemnized April 12, 1980 in the Provo L.D.S. Temple.
Glade served in several callings in his L.D.S. ward. He especially enjoyed being ward membership clerk, as he was able to meet all of the new members as they moved into the ward and in doing his home teaching.
Glade worked construction for several years before working as a mechanic for Crouch’s O.K. Service. In 1973, Glade and his brother Dean opened Carter Bros. Repair. He enjoyed his customers and many good friends who frequented the garage for a cold drink and a visit. After he retired he spent many hours working with wood making beautiful things for family and friends. He loved keeping a beautiful yard.
Glade is survived by his wife Doris, 3 sons, Steven (Rosalyn ), David (Jeri ), and Paul ( Teresa ), and son- in-law Terry ( Gail ) Walker. 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law Jane Carter and Maxine Arnold, many nieces and nephews and lots of cousins.
Preceding him in death, his daughter Vickie Rae Walker, great grandsons Braken and Michael Carter, his parents, 3 brothers Vance, J.D., and Ellis Dean, 2 sisters Zola Noon, and Phyllis Olsen.
Thank you to Dr. Wm LeRoy, Cindy and the office staff for the many years of health care you gave Glade. We would also like to thank all of the staff at Parkway Health Center who took very special care of Dad. A very special thanks to all of the Payson 5th Ward members for all that they have done.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 25, 2011, 1:00 p.m., in the Payson 5th Ward Chapel, 225 South 400 East, Payson, Utah. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Sunday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church Monday, 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
