Glenn E. Porter of San Antonio, TX passed away on February 25, 2009 at the age of 79. He was born June 26, 1929 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Glenn was a graduate of SE Missouri State University and completed his Master's degree from Trinity University. He taught at Mann Junior High and Jefferson High School. He was a counselor at Fox Tech, Principal at Emerson & Riley Middle Schools, and assigned to the central office of SAISD for several years. Glenn was active in teacher and retired teacher organizations. He, along with Sarah Smith and Bill Lafferty, started TREDDA to aid retired TRS personnel living below the poverty level. He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, La Quita Porter. He is survived by his 2 sons, Patrick and John; also Debbie Rose and his grandson Brendan. A celebration of his life will be from 2-5 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Acadiana Café at 1299 SW Loop 410 @ Marbach in San Antonio.
