Glenn W. “Mac” McDaniel
January 10, 1934- July12, 2011
Retired U.S. Army First Sergeant Glenn W. “Mac” McDaniel, of Huntsville, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 77. First Sergeant McDaniel, a member of the 101st Airborne, served one tour of duty in Korea and served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded two Bronze Stars for bravery in battle and two Purple Hearts. First Sergeant McDaniel was honored by being inducted into the Madison County Hall of hero’s for heroism and dedication to military duty. His name will be eternally carved into the Huntsville-Madison County Veteran’s Memorial.
The memories of his life will always be shared by his wife, Shelby McDaniel of Huntsville, daughter Debbie Hagood and husband Scott of Madison, daughter Patricia Black and husband Stewart of Union Grove, Grandson Ryan Hall and wife Audry of Owens Cross Roads, Granddaughter Haley White and husband Kendall of Yokosuka, Japan, Grandson Logan Black of Union Grove and girlfriend Ansley Adams, Granddaughter Jessica Isbell of Huntsville, Great Grandchildren Hayden and Asher Hall, Kaylee and Dylan White, and Tanner Isbell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McDaniel, brothers Edgar, JD, Buford, Leon and Hobert McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel was a very caring, loving and generous man who lived his life entirely for his family. He touched many hearts and lived with the ability to love unconditionally. Family and friends consider him a true hero and a man that gave his health and risked his life for our country.
The family would like to thank Dr. Darla Cowart, her nurses, and her staff for their loving care.
Visitation will be this Friday at Valhalla Memory Gardens from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
