Mrs. Gloria Dorothy Faus Simmons, age 87, of McDonough, GA passed away November 12, 2011. Mrs. Simmons was born in Kingston, NY the daughter of the late William McKinley Faus and Helena Clara Gill Faus Marks . She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Mangum Simmons Jr and a brother, David Oliver Faus Sr. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Jonesboro First Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, ceramics, gardening, traveling and the beach. She was a founding member of the Forest Park Homemakers Club. Survivors are her children, Eddie Simmons (Phyllis) of Flowery Branch, GA and Patti Shepard of McDonough; grandchildren, Chad Simmons (Arien), Jennifer Lyon (Trey), Billy Shepard and Katie Shepard; great grandchildren, Landon Simmons, Jackson Simmons and Gabe Lyon; sister, Barbara Reeder and Em Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mrs. Simmons will be Tuesday, November 15, 2011 – 1:00 PM at Jonesboro First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Eddie Simmons and Billy Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 – 7:00 PM.
