Gloria Jean Fender
Greer, SC
Gloria Jean Fender, 66, of Greer, died peacefully Thursday, December 29, 2011 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville following an amazingly courageous battle with brain cancer, after a successful battle won over ovarian cancer 6 years ago.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was the only daughter of Jean Ardelle Bergin and the late Glyde Harvey Snyder.
Gloria was co-owner/manager of The Office Centers in Greenville with her husband, Jerry Fender and business partner, Larry Fischer. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a serious student of biblical scholarship; she enjoyed reading, knitting and her garden; her greatest fear was of "being bored". She loved her family and was known by her grandchildren as Mana. She was an outgoing and fun personality, who lived life fully to her last day. She constantly came home excited from an errand or appointment saying "I just met my newest best friend".
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Fender; her mother, Ardelle Pennington; her daughter, Anne Albers; her son-in-law, Craig Albers and their children Erin Albers, Grayson Albers and Lachlan Albers, all of Greenville. She is also survived by four step-children and eight step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3rd at 11am at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC with the Rev. Dave Sems officiating. The family will greet friends in the church atrium immediately following the service. A memorial service and interment will be held at Hunter's Chapel Baptist Church in Bamberg, SC, Wednesday January 4th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.
