Mr. Gordon E. Krueger, 89, of Mill Creek, Indiana, was surrounded by his loving family when he departed into the loving arms of our lord on Friday October 1, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. He was born February 21, 1921 in Springfield twp., La Porte County, Indiana, the son of Edward Krueger and Marie (Benson) Krueger. Gordon worked as a brick mason for Larson & Danielson for over 20 years and then worked for General Construction for over 12 years; he has been a brick mason for over 50 years. He was a member of Sauktown Church of Christ, Veteran of the US Army during WW II, American Legion Post 297 of New Carlisle, IN, Brick Mason Union Local #6. Gordon loved his grandchildren and was a strong family man. He loved gardening and being outdoors and was a diehard Cubs fan. On March 28, 1942, in La Porte, IN, he married Lily Mae Seitz Krueger who survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters - Donna (Ronald) Norris of Mill Creek, IN, Dawn (Clay Turner) Krueger of New Carlisle, IN; son - David (Karen) Krueger of Rolling Prairie, IN; 10 Grandchildren - Ginger (Charles) Spencer, Cynthia (Roy) Deutscher, Cathy (David) Keen, Christopher Norris, Jackie (Matthew) Lehman, Daniel (Cami) Krueger, Megan Countryman, Keith Countryman, Matthew Countryman, Brian Countryman; 20 great grandchildren Angela (Justin) Bird, Nicki Cook, Kala Spencer, Kristine Spencer, Courtney Spencer, Kyrie (Christopher) Jenkinson, Kayla Robinson, Zachary Blakeman, Marissa Blakeman, Todd Deutscher, Erika Deutscher, Aryanna Corbett, Morgan Keen, Jacob Keen, Alexis McGuire, Gabriel Norris, David Lehman, Shelby Lehman, Owen Krueger, Grace Countryman; 7 great great grandchildren Codee Bird, Emilee Bird, Mckenzie Ruszkowski, Madison Ruszkowski, Abigale Hammonds, Tanner Jenkinson, Audrey Hernandez. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Shirley Watts, Naomi Lain, Thelma Runion, Doris Scott; 6 brothers, Phillip, Walter, Robert, Victor, Kenneth and Donald Krueger. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm CST & Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 9:00 am CST until time of the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday October 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM CST with Rev. Howard Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sauktown Church of Christ building fund or the Kankakee Township Volunteer Fire Department.
