Gordon E. Larson, 75, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2010 at La Porte Hospital. He was born December 22, 1934 in Armstrong, Iowa, the son of Andrew Larson and Anna (Holmer) Larson. He had lived in the LaPorte area, since 1995, coming from southern California. Gordon worked as an electronic engineer and vice-president of engineering for sixteen years at Resdel Engineering, retiring from Industrial Engineering here in Indiana in 2002. Building and flying model airplanes was a lifelong passion. He belonged to the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Northern Indiana Model Association. He is listed as Larson Electronics in the Radio Control Hall of Fame in Cleveland Heights, OH for having built one of the first radio control transmitters. He is a member of the US Marine Corps serving during the Korean War. Gordon loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, his little miniature poodle Miss Z-Zie and being a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. On August 22, 1981, in Long Beach, CA on the Queen Mary, he married Margaret M. (Finney/Huffman) Larson who survives. He is also survived by his daughter - Jennifer (Jon) Sagissor of Reedsburg, WI; four sons - Matthew (Linda) Larson of Redlands, CA, Nathan (Janet) Larson of Syracuse, UT, Daniel (Tathiana) Larson of Cottage Grove, MN, Eric Larson of Corona, CA; and also survived by step-daughter - Jodie (Tim) Huffman-Thonn of Rochester, IN; step-son - Jeff (Jan) Huffman of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren; Andrew, Emily and Tyler Larson, Kari (Matt) Cuthbertson, Robert and David Larson, Tasha and Winter Larson, Nash Huffman, and Will and Madi Thonn; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew and Phillip Cuthbertson; one sister, Helen Crossley of Albany, and two sisters-in-law, Mae Larson of Fairmont, MN, and Vivian Larson of Westminster, CA. and several nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Gunnard, Glenn, and George Larson; two sisters, Martha Wetter, Alyce Peterson, sister-in-law, Doris Larson and grandson, Ethan Larson. Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the Haverstock Funeral Home on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm and visitation on Monday, October 18, 2010 10:00 am, until time of services, at the church. Services will be held at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 3628 W. Johnson Road LaPorte, IN. 46350 on Monday October 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Aaron Winkelman officiating. Interment will follow at the Marion National Cemetery, VAMC, 1700 East 38th Street Marion, IN 46392 on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm EST.
