Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died Friday, February 3, 2012. He is survived by his grandson, Ian O'Leary of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter, Ana Keeler of Kiowa, OK; four great-grandchildren, Anita, Alexis, Anthony, and Destiny; close friends, Melita Ortega, and Ken and Ann Cook; and several other relatives and friends. Lt. Col. Weighton was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne W. O'Leary in 2005; wife, Virginia D. Weighton; parents, Alfred and Netta Weighton; and sister, Edyth Gualeoni. He was born in 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri and served in the United States Army for over 28 years during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. Gordon was a member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. He was an avid stamp collector and loved crossword puzzles. Lt. Col Weighton's family was very important to him and he loved helping others. He was involved in setting up The Storehouse in Albuquerque to help others. Lt. Col Weighton was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., at French - University Chapel.
