Gordon K. Dougherty, age 77, of Boyceville, WI passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Gordon Karl Dougherty was born on January 14th, 1935 in Downing, WI to Karl and Violet (Schutts) Dougherty. He graduated from Boyceville High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1959.

Throughout his life Gordon worked mainly as a truck driver for such companies as Schanno and Pacific Gamble Robinson. He was also a policeman for the village of Boyceville and was part of the Boyceville Fire Department. He worked for Kadinger's Auto Salvage as a truck driver from 1983 until his retirement in 2002.

Gordon married Joanne Tietz on October 7th, 1961 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Menomonie, WI. Their daughter Susan was born on March 6th, 1972 and their son Gary was born on July 6th, 1974.

In his spare time Gordon enjoyed playing cards, dancing at the 400 Club in his younger days, attending concerts by the Howie Sturtz Band in various cities in Wisconsin and Minnesota, traveling with his wife Joanne to such destinations as Branson, MO and Yellowstone Park, having coffee with friends and spending time with his family.

Gordon is survived by his daughter Susan (Pat) Olsem of Emerald, WI, son Gary Dougherty of Boyceville, WI, sister Dolores (Eldon) Sutliff of Boyceville, WI sister Patricia (Barry) Marlett of Menomonie, WI, granddaughters Alyssa and Emily Olsem of Emerald, WI, sisters- and brothers-in-law Ronald and Donna Tietz of Menomonie, WI and Dawn and Michael Steinmeyer of Menomonie, WI and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Karl and Violet Dougherty and his wife Joanne, an infant son, and his father-and mother in-law Albert and Gladys Tietz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Boyceville with Pastor Paul Carlson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery in the Town of Sherman, Dunn Co., WI.
