Grace J. Lee, 95, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Sunday September 12, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte. She was born February 18, 1915 in La Crosse, Indiana, the daughter of Jacob Conrad and May (Handley) Conrad. Grace worked as a secretary for Allis-Chalmers for twenty-five years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of First Baptist Church of LaPorte; Grace was a member of LaPorte Eastern Star and a past matron of Orient Chapter of Eastern Star. On May 18, 1935, in LaCrosse, IN, she married Harry Lee who preceded her in death May 21, 1995. She is survived by her daughter - Karen Sabie of La Porte, IN; two grandsons - Greg (Julie) Hazard of Indianapolis, IN, Paul Sabie of San Diego, CA; grandaughter - Kelly Sabie of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law - Alice Conrad of Fredericksburg, VA. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Kay, sister, Ethel Bartleson, two brothers, Jake Conrad, Roy Conrad. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Thursday September 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dan McDonald, officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Sabin Home of LaPorte 1603 Michigan Avenue LaPorte, IN 46350.
