Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Godwin, 95, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, February 8, 2011 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Reverend Charles Martindale and the Reverend Lonnie Stewart will be officiating. The family will receive guests beginning at 12:30 PM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mrs. Godwin was born in Decatur, Mississippi on September 7, 1915 to the union of Charity Jones Munn and Harvey Lee Munn; she entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 6, 2011. She was a faithful wife, mother and friend. Grace raised her family then returned to school where she became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Willis Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport until her retirement. She was an accomplished seamstress, excellent cook, and avid reader and artist. Mrs. Godwin was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe where she was active until her health prohibited her attendance. Grace was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Godwin, her parents, six siblings, a son-in-law John Baxter, granddaughter Kaye Hargrove Shields, a grandson Tyler Godwin and a great grandson Joshua Baxter. Left behind to cherish her memory are Daughters Geraldine De Lancy and husband Edwin, Charlotte Baxter Timmons and husband Val Ray, Lila Hargrove and husband R. L., sons Neal Godwin and wife Penny, Travis Godwin and wife Joyce, and Randy Godwin. Surviving grandchildren are Mike, Russell, Darryl and Chris DeLancy, Jerry, Terry and Greg Baxter, Paul and Brad Hargrove, Melinda Adams, Kirk and Richard Peeples, Debbie Spradlin and Randall and Colton Godwin; 22 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, also a host of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank those who have so faithfully cared for her during these last several years. A very special thank you is expressed to Dr. Enaka Yembe, Irene Cureington, the staff of Ridgecrest Community Care, Terri Eppinette and others from Louisiana Hospice. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
