Gregory J. Menhennick, 47, of Negaunee Township, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, May 27, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital. Greg was born on November 12, 1963 in Hancock, a son of Michael J. and Joanne H. (Lindberg) Menhennick and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1982 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and was formerly employed with Jim Dandy Caps, Ferrell Gas, Amerigas where he managed the Negaunee, Iron River and Amberg, Wisconsin stores; most recently working for Semco Gas. An outdoorsman, Greg loved to hunt, fish, go snowmobiling and 4-Wheeling, and spend valuable time at the family camp in Sidnaw. Always lending a helping hand to family and friends, Greg was a jack of all trades. He was a member of Post #44, Sons of the American Legion. He was caring, loving and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Greg is survived by his mother and step-father, Joanne Menhennick and Raymond S. �Pete� Greet, of Marquette; a sister, Diana Menhennick and her fianc�, John Hambleton; step-sister, Laurie Kleckner and step-brothers, Joseph (Kathy) Greet and Robert (Beth) Greet, all of Marquette; two uncles, Ronald (Sara) Lindberg and William (Sandra) Lindberg, both of Gladwin, MI; one aunt, Roberta Lindberg of Kewaskum, WI; his special companion, Julie Kind of Negaunee Township; special friend, Glenda Leach of Michigamme, MI; special neighbors, Brian and Sarah Goupil of Negaunee; his favorite canine companion, Sammi; also several cousins, one great aunt and one great uncle. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Menhennick on July 2, 1993; paternal grandparents, Michael A. and Mary (Jacques) Menhennick; also maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Senia (Paatalo) Lindberg as well as an uncle, Charles Lindberg. Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. where a memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Jed Patrick officiating. Memorials are preferred in Greg�s memory to Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter (UPAWS), 84 Snowfield Road, Negaunee, MI 49866.
