Gregory Scott Cooper, Sr. was born November 9, 1957 in Rockford, Illinois to Isaiah, Sr. and Donnie I. Triplett-Cooper. Gregory, Sr. accepted Christ and continued his journey with God. He received his education in Rockford, Illinois and served in the Army Reserves, receiving an honorable discharge. He was an entertainer of music and was born to sing. Gregory, Sr. joined in matrimony to Sheri Carter on April 4, 1986. He was a husband and a father. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Sheri Cooper; daughter Tameca J. Cooper, son Gregory S. Cooper, Jr., daughter Iresha J. Cooper; grandchildren Jasarieon Cooper and Demarous Spates, Jr.; sisters, Shirley A. Davis, Barbara R. Hereford, Carolyn Shavers (Charles), Patricia Stepney (Rodney); brothers Isaiah, Jr. (Willa), David A., Gary L., Larry D., Shawn D.; aunts Hermie Campbell and Ethel M. Young (Walter); special uncle King Wade Hampton "Poppy"; special nieces Rovonda and Donie; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and his best friend Calvin Avery. Preceding him in death was his mother, father, brother Kenneth A. Cooper, Sr., grandparents Henry and Sallie Cooper, Robert Triplett, Sr. and Lula Bell (Triplett) Jordan, and aunt Eula Hampton. God's got him in His arms. No more pain, no more hurt, no more self-doubt . . . He is at peace now. The gate is open; God has him.
