H. A. "Buddy" Carruth, 89 years young, died on January 19, 2012 following a brief illness. "Uncle Buddy" was a lifelong resident of New Orleans until moving to Slidell after Hurricane Katrina.

He was the loving son of Ellison Carruth of Kentwood, LA and Meta Easley Carruth of McComb, MS.

After graduating from Samuel J. Peters Boys School, he attended LSU and graduated in 1947 with a degree in Business Administration.
He served in the US Army in Oahu, HI during WWII. After the war, he became a sales representative at the Madison Lumber Company, paving the way to become the co-founder and owner of the Carruth Brothers Lumber Company in New Orleans.

He was a faithful servant and choir member at the First United Methodist Church on Canal Street, and later at the United Methodist Church of Slidell. He was also a member of the Masons.

Buddy had a passionate love of music, travel, and family. His generous spirit touched many across the globe.

He is survived by his sister Alice Carruth Mayeur, and his brother Lowery Carruth, as well as the following nieces and nephews: Bonnie and Jim Dalen, Glenn Mayeur and Laura Hornaday, Pam Mayeur Pfingsten, Michelle and David Treen, Linda and Sid Galloway, Lloyd and Elizabeth Carruth, Lee and Diane Carruth, Wayne and Sharon Carruth, Donald and Lener Carruth, 18 grand nephews and nieces, and countless friends.

He was a selfless and faithful servant of Jesus Christ who truly lived the Gospel. He was, and will always be, "Uncle Buddy" to all.
