Hansford "Hank" Richardson
Hank was born in Rice Station, Kentucky on July 3, 1934, he was the youngest of 4 children. His father was Elijah Richardson, his mother was Glane Depew Richardson. Glane died of T.B. when she was only 31 years old and Hank was 18 months old, which left his father alone to raise the four children. Elijah moved to Hamilton, Ohio where he could make a better living. Jeanette, being the oldest at about 8 years of age figured she should be in charge with Doris and Lowell to help. After Jeanette married she moved to California and he went to live with her and her family for about a year. While in California he went to church with her and went forward to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior. The minister asked him if he felt any different and he said no, so he figured it didn't take. Hank came to Florida in 1958 and shortly after met Pat Cyr. On their first date he told her he loved her and she told him he couldn't love her because he didn't even know her. He replied well I think I love you! They were married September of 1960 and shared 51 years together. In 1954 they attended a little church named Grace Baptist and Pat was saved and they committed their lives to the Lord in 1965. Even though Hank didn't think he felt any different at that church in California or not God saw his heart when he made that decision.
Hank and Pat bought a home in Clearwater and raised 3 boys where they reside to this day. Hank loved construction and the little 2 bedroom home became a 4 bedroom home with a large family room where large groups of friends and family enjoyed being together. Growing up without a mother meant he went without a lot of nurturing and this was something he didn't want others to go through. While his own boys were growing up, he took in several of their neighborhood friends over the years as well as a niece in order to help them get through difficult times. He regularly gave food and funds to help the homeless in the bay area. He and Pat served for many years at various churches they attended, he as an usher and Pat as the pianist. Hank never met a stranger and was always known by his handlebar mustacheand friendly ways
In 1995 he suffered a major heart attack, he had quintuple bypass surgery in 1996. God gave him 15 years more of good health, survived and accident which turned over his R.V. and had a broken neck. Recent evidence that his heart was wearing out was clear. He was really tired. Hank seemed to be the most popular patient in the Cardiac Care Unit with up to 9 or 10 people in his room at one time. A constant stream of friends, pastors and family came to be with him and were with him when God called him home Sunday, December 11, 2011.
Survivors include his wife Pat,
Son, Marty & wife Terri and their children, Kali, Jonah, Casey & Seth of Conifer, Colorado;
Son, Brett & wife Chrys and their children, Rachel, Noah, Jonah of Clearwater, FL;
Son, Joey & wife Jodie and their children Kyndel & Cayden of Tampa, FL;
and many nieces, nephews, cousins in Florida, Kentucky and Missouri.
One brother-in-law, Harold Cyr of Clearwater
