Harry E. Knox, Jr.
Greenville, SC

Harry E. Knox, Jr. 91, of 101 North Woodgreen Way, died February 2, 2012.

Born in Newport News, VA, he was the son of Dr. Harry E. and Margaret Reid Knox and stepson of Katherine Huber Knox of Philadelphia, PA.

A Greenville resident since 1972, he graduated with an SB in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1942 followed by an SM in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1947. Over the course of his professional career, he worked for Union Carbide, Rohm & Haas, Kordite, Pepsi and finally Dow Brands (Texize). He retired from Dow Brands in 1989. Harry was an avid music lover and ran an in-home chamber music group and later the International Chamber Music Series for many years. He also had a great love of fine art, and was a keen travel enthusiast with numerous trips to Italy his favorite but also Canada, Russia, China, Germany and England. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

Widower of Helen D. Knox, he is survived by their children, sons, Harry E. Knox III of Montreal, Canada and John Dyson Knox of Greenville; daughter, Robin Reid Knox of Marlborough, MA; and two granddaughters, Sara Helen Knox and Emily Jean Knox.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Washington St., Greenville. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA at a later date.
