Harry I. Elrod
Greenville, SC

Harry Inman Elrod, 87, of 30 Harding Rd., passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012.

Born January 8, 1925 in Toccoa, GA, he was the son of the late Walter Sweed and Gladys Rebecca Phillips Elrod.

He was a retired electrician from Saco-Lowell and was a veteran of the U S Army, having served during World War II.

He was a member of Piedmont Park United Methodist Church.

Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Gaynell Hollingsworth Elrod; a daughter, Mary Suzanne Holcombe of Taylors, SC; a son, Daniel Harry Elrod of Greenville, SC; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Elrod of Marietta, SC; a sister, Sarah Pettit of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren: Tracy McFarlin and husband, Jody, Jamey Holcombe and wife, Amy and Monica VanderWaal and husband, Jason; and four great-grandchildren: Rhyne, Jake, Camryn and Kendall.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at The Mackey Mortuary with Rev. Dave Wilmer and Chaplain Nathan Gilstrap officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, White Horse Rd.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 11:30 until 12:45 PM at the mortuary.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the Staff of Solaris Hospice for their love, care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Solaris Hospice, 111 Smith Hines Rd., Greenville, SC 29607.
