Harry J. Brewer

Harry J. Brewer, 81 of Beckley passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012. Born May 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Joe and Mattie Riffey Brewer.
Harry enjoyed NASCAR racing especially loved the number 3 car, he loved walking at the mall and meeting old friends and making new friends. He enjoyed traveling especially on the tour bus.
Harry retired from Slab Fork Coal Company with 25 years of service. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Harry is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Collins Brewer; son Bernard Harry Brewer and wife Marion of Comfort, WV; daughter Elaine Lewis of Beckley; 11 grandchildren Kimberly Houchins, Sherri Bett, Christina Gutierrez, Ashley Carden, Karina Martin, Bobbie Leigh Lewis, Hannah Lewis, Mattie Lewis, Silas Lewis, Genna Lewis, Ronnie Stewart, Debbie Haag; 7 great-grandchildren, Degore Martin, III, Megan Houchins, Allie Houchins, Carly Bett, Joey Stewart, John Stewart, Rylie Hunter; brothers, Larry Vaughn Brewer of Pensacola FL, Glenn Brewer of Washington, DC; sisters, Mary Ellen Walls of Green Cove, VA and Alice Fay Buchanan of Demascus, VA.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor John Lares officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
Friends may gather with the family Friday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
