Harry Wilker Obituary


Harry A. Wilker, 83, of Owatonna died on March 4, 2010 at the Owatonna Hospital. Harry, the son of Arthur & Clara (Blakeway) Wilker, was born on Nov. 9, 1926 in Owatonna. He served in the US Navy from 1944-48. On Feb. 20, 1946 he married Donna Dugan in San Francisco where he was stationed. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, the couple returned to Owatonna. Harry's career was with the US Postal Service; first in Owatonna, then Santa Ana, CA; and finally as a rural carrier for Ellendale, MN. The family moved to Ellendale in 1976 and returned to Owatonna in 1995. He also owned and operated Harry's Decorating & Painting for many years. Harry was an avid sports fan including the Vikings and the Gophers; he especially enjoyed the Minnesota Twins. He also enjoyed fishing & golfing. Harry & Donna enjoyed traveling, especially their winters in Florida. Harry will long be remembered for his heart of gold, his unwavering devotion to his wife and family and his dedication to working hard every day. Regardless of life's circumstances, Harry always had a smile for everyone. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Donna, of Owatonna; his seven children, Lynn (Randy) Stay, Albert Lea; Steve (Colleen) Wilker, Chanhassen, MN; Nancy (Mike) Heiser, Mesquite, NV; Tim Wilker, Rochester, MN; Chris (Jody) Wilker, San Antonio, TX; Mary Wolf, Jordan, MN; Tom (Laura) Wilker, Owatonna; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his brother, Roger (Linn) Wilker, Mankato; his sister, Betty Fisher, Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, a great-granddaughter, Lillian Wilker and his brother-in-law Paul Fisher. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, Mar. 7th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Owatonna, and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Monday, Mar. 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment, with military honors provided by the Steele Co. Military Funeral Detail, will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Owatonna.
