Harvey Edison Allen Sr. was born in the comfort of his home on August 3, 1952 to his late parents, Odasee Lewis Allen and James Truman Allen, Sr. His older brother James Truman Allen II preceded him in death. Harvey professed his faith in Christ while a member of Richmond Heights Church of God. Through the guidance of their mother, Harvey along with younger brother Anthony and cousin Herbert Jr. were known as the Inspirational Singers, who song at area churches. His mother later launched him as a soloist and was known around town as "Master Harvey Allen". Harvey was a 1970 graduate of Charles Sumner High school. He later furthered his education at Saint Louis University, by earning his Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Administration. In 2006, after 30 years of dedicated service to the Saint Louis Public Schools, Harvey retired as a Lead Custodian from Buder Elementary School. Harvey and Frances White married September 27, 1980. Their two children Harvey Edison Jr. and Stephanie LaVenia were the main ingredients that completed his world. He fully enjoyed being their hero, their friend and provided them with countless words of wisdom. Harvey was someone special to his immediate family, church family, extended family, and lifelong friends. He gave unselfishly his patience, laughter, mentorship, and more advice! Harvey was known for the homegrown produce from his garden, his sweet potato pies, and his homemade ice cream. Harvey was a current and active registered licensed official, a position he held over 30 years with the Missouri High School State Athletic Association. Harvey became member of St. John A.M.E. Church in the 1980s. He served as a faithful member and officer of the church. On January 14, 2012 in the comfort of his home Harvey Edison Allen Sr. entered the realm of perfect peace. He leaves to cherish his living: a great partner, his "Marilyn Monroe" and "honeydew", his wife Frances; son Harvey Edison Jr.: his shadow Stephanie LaVenia; sister, Lavenia Reeves; sister-in-law Marcia; brother, Willis Sr. (Gloria), Anthony Sr. (Adrienne); brothers-in-law, Robert (Carolyn), Bruce (Janette), Eric; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Austin), and Christie; spiritual daughter, Jace' Karmon; long time friends, George Weaver, and Darryl Williams; nieces and nephews along with a host of devoted church members and other beloved relatives who shall miss him deeply.
