Harvey F. Grant , Aged 92, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at his residence in Clearwater, Florida. He was born July 18, 1919 in Rockville, Maryland to Harvey F. Grant and Marjorie Wilcox Grant.
Harvey's first job was with Western Union working in the Washington, D. C. area where he at times had the privilege of delivering telegrams to the White House.
Harvey was a World War II veterans. He served in the U. S. Army from January 1943 to November 1945 as a Military Policeman in such places as Central Europe, Rhineland, Rome, Arno, Sicily and Southern France and received the World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal as well as a Good Conduct Medal. During his military service, he worked in the transportation of German prisoners from the front lines to the stockades and guarded them on their trips by train. He also helped to direct the traffic of convoys and did guard duty on the posts at which he served.
After his military service, Harvey was employed by General Motors in Rochester, N.Y. as a machinist and retired from General Motors prior to moving from Rochester to Clearwater, Florida.
Harvey was a member of Gulf Shores Baptist Church, Dunedin, Florida where he served as a trustee for several years.
Harvey is survived by his wife of thirty years - Kathy Grant, his son - Robert Grant, his daughter - Sherri Scarson, his step-children - Benton McCloud, Aneeta Tripp, and Lonnie Potter, nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and eleven step-great grandchildren.
