Hattie "Rica" Dozier, 73, passed away October 25, 2009, in her home. She was born in Oak Grove, VA, and retired as a supervisor with General Electric Corporation. Rica was the widow of the late Lindy Dozier, and is survived by three daughters, Jeannie Saunders (Jim), Beverly White (Frankie), and Paula Quiros, all of Chesapeake, VA; three sons, John Dozier of Suffolk, VA, Joseph Dozier (Sharon), and Daniel Dozier (Jean), all of Chesapeake, VA; three sisters, Hope Raulerson, Carol Smith, and Diana Gifford; four brothers, Dr. James Ives, Sam Ives, William Ives, and Joe Ives; a special brother-in-law and friend, Johnny Lawrence; a special sister-in-law and friend, Diane Lawlis (Jack); fourteen grandchildren, Heather, Kara, Amber, Kristy, Tiffany, Nicole, Cecilia, Joey, Michael, Buddy, Mark, Donnie, Timmy, and Brandon; one great grandchild, Madison; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruthie Lawrence and Annie Hedger; and two brothers, Ted Ives and Norman Ives, Jr. The family wishes to thank her special caregivers Paula and Melva. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Hwy. Chapel by Rev. Mike Ellis, with entombment to follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Geneva Park Baptist Church, 2400 Gilmerton Rd., Chesapeake, VA 23323.
