Hazel C. (Boyatzi) Simmons, 94, daughter of the late Vasil and Victoria (Heldoupe) Boyatzi, passed away September 5th at Beaumont Nursing Center. She leaves her niece Mary Gilson of Woodville, MA, her great nephews Clifton Gilson (Anne) of Midlothian, VA, and Jonathon Gilson of Grafton, MA, and her great niece Lisa McAleer (Mack) of New Milford, CT. She was the sister of the late Triadha Prifty and Stefan Boyatzi, and the aunt of the late Helen Abany and Arthur Prifty. She leaves several great, great nieces and nephews. Hazel was a graduate of Oxford High School and Clark University, Worcester, MA. She was employed as a secretary at Rice Barton, Crompton Knowles, and Worcester VNA. Hazel was an avid traveler and was very interested in art and literature. She had several hobbies including oil painting and pottery. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 9th at 11:00am at St. Nicolas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street in Shrewsbury. All are invited to a calling hour from 10:00-11:00 at the church prior to the service. She will then be laid to rest at Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
