Our dear mom, grandma, and friend Hazel Dean Henrie Wignall passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2011. She was born January 15, 1921 in Panguitch, Utah to Hazel Barton and John Nathaniel Henrie. Mom grew up in Provo and attended schools there. She married dad, Joe Wignall, on April 17, 1939. Mom and Dad lived in Provo for a short time and then moved to Payson where they lived their entire lives.
Mom served in the American Legion Auxiliary and was active in the LDS church where she held various church positions over many years and enjoyed doing her temple work. She especially enjoyed volunteering at Mountain View Hospital from 1995-2003 and was excited to be volunteer of the quarter in January 2000. Mom retired from Nebo School District after working nineteen years in the school lunch program; the last five years of her work was as the Nebo area School Lunch Coordinator. She enjoyed her work and met many life-long friends in the schools, the district office, and in volunteering.
She loved to go on fishing trips with dad and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking. For many years she enjoyed working in the yard, had a great vegetable garden, and loved her roses and flowers. The Senior Citizen trips and belonging to the card club in Payson was one of her favorite past-times. Mom enjoyed throwing out the food spread as often as possible and was one of the best cooks around! Candies and sweet treats were the best!
Mom has a large family legacy she was very proud of. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, brother Bart Henrie (Harriet), Grandsons Scott and Greg Wignall and brothers Orald (Ruth), DuWayne (Ada), Gerald (Mary Sevy), Ercil (Maxine), and Nyal (Blanche) Henrie and sisters Emma Henrie Orton (Dee) and LeVera Henrie Hannig (Lyel). Mom was also preceded in death by many wonderful friends.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Gary and Missy Wignall of Twin Falls, Idaho; Richard Wignall & Reed Mauchley of Elkridge; Joan and Farrell Buhler of Payson; and Barbara & Dan Martinson of Lincoln, California. She leaves nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Mom we will miss you, get prepared with another great feast and party when we see you again! We love you.
We would like to extend special thanks to: Dr. Bennion; the entire staff of Heathstone Manor in Spanish Fork; and Rebecca, Wendy, David and various aides at Sunbrook Hospice for their excellent care over many months.
Friends and family may attend funeral services at Payson Walker Mortuary on June 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment,Payson City Cemetery.
