Whenever I came back to Liberty to see my parents over the years, I always stopped by her house and spent time with her. I felt like she was another mother. She used to call me about once a month and I don't think she every missed sending me a birthday and Christmas card for years until the last few years. She always used to talk about her kids. I think the one reason we were so close is the fact that she loved the fact that I was adopted too. I will miss a good friend and I know the family will mss a wonderful person.

Aunt Helen taught me how to make the best brownies I have ever tasted. She always thanked me for helping her. I admired her for learning how to drive and getting her license when she was probably 60? She wasn't too proud to ask me for help. We had talked about our relationship with the Lord and where we would spend eternity. She knew that when she died, she would be going to heaven. She dearly loved her grandchildren and told me so. She told me that she had the best brother in the world, that he was so kind to her in helping her pick out a used car after she had wrecked her car. "Little Lindsay" took a breakfast burrito from McDonalds over to her one morning and she ate only 1/2 of it and saved the rest for another meal. She said she had never eaten at McDonalds(at that time), and the breakfast burrito was one of the best things she had ever eaten. She was generous. She always said hi to me at family gatherings. She knew I played the bagpipes and she told me that she had always wanted to have bagpipes played at Uncle Boyd's funeral because he loved them. I took my bagpipes over and played them for her while she stood at her door and cried. She told me afterwards that I had helped her achieve something she had been wanting to do for Uncle Boyd. I took her to several of her Dr.s appts. She never wanted to be late, so we left very early. I helped her get in and out of my car and she said that I was treating her so kindly....maybe too kindly. She always asked me if she could pay me for gas or anything else, my answer was always no. Anything I did for her I was doing because I loved her and I told her so. I drive by Aunt Helen's house on the way to church every week. I always think about her when I see her house. I love her and I miss her.

My sincerest sympathies to Lindsey and Virginia and all of the rest of Helen's family. As dad says, memories sustain us especially at a sad time like this. May all of those wonderful remembrances help you through this time. Linda

Lots of good memories . On the farm fried chicken and Aunt Kathleen's scrumptous cholate syrup on homemade ice cream ,Bethel last days of school .
