Helen J. Samaras, 85, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Fort Wayne. Born in Sheboygan, WI, she was a lifetime resident of Ft. Wayne. She graduated from North Side High School in 1944 and worked as an Office Manager and Dental Assistant for 50 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, and Philoptochos Society; past-president in 1999 of the Daughters of Penelope; co-founder and past chairperson of their first annual fashion show. She was crowned Queen of Job's Daughters and also the co-founder of the first Greek Fest.
Surviving are her son, Peter J. Samaras of Fort Wayne; daughters, Francene J. (Stephen) Foster of Ft. Wayne, and Angeline (Greg) Feichter of Angola; grandchildren, Mary Jo Ryan of Ft. Wayne, Zoe Feichter of Angola, Josh Feichter, and Kaitlin Feichter; several nieces and nephews; Helen was preceded in death by her parents, James J. and Angeline G. Berles; her loving husband of 50 years, James P. Samaras; brother, John J. Berles and a sister Mary Alexander.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 110 E Wallen Road with entry prayers and calling one hour prior, Fr. Paul Bebis officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with a Trisagion service at 8:30.
